Info
Crypto is intimidating. For most new investors, the charts are confusing, the terminology is opaque, and the stakes feel high. Mink Finance was built to change that by building a crypto trading app designed to meet new users where they are, educate them along the way, and grow with them as their confidence did. Working alongside a lead product designer and art director, I contributed the logo, design system, onboarding experience, dashboard, and educational features — helping shape an experience that balanced accessibility for beginners with enough depth to retain moderate traders.
Impact
Mink Finance was acquired by Cobra Trading in 2024, not because of market conditions or business pivots, but because the product worked. The platform successfully translated a complex financial product into an experience new users could understand and trust, while retaining enough depth to keep moderate traders engaged. Though the Mink Finance name no longer exists, the design decisions that made it approachable, educational, and premium were compelling enough to attract acquisition and continue under a larger platform.

The Outcome

This led to the development of a dynamic visual system that not only reflects Mink Finance's commitment to cryptocurrency education and investments, but also emphasizes the unity and empowerment of users navigating the blockchain landscape. As part of this initiative, Mink Finance prioritized creating an inclusive community among its users, fully integrating them into the platform's evolution.
At the core of Mink Finance's visual identity is its logo, featuring custom-designed lettering to represent it's lovable mink mascot while maintaining simplicity in it's identity to reflect the easy-to-use Mink platform. The typography is slanted with the tailing pointing up and forward, representing the growth and technological advancement driving Mink Finance''s mission forward.

Information Architecture
For Mink Finance, we defined 83 user stories for the web-based app in total. These user stories were determined by user needs identified during interviews about cryptocurrency and financial needs, as well as the vision of the Mink Finance management team in determining the direction and functionality of the platform.
Using the information, I constructed the information architecture which is visualized by a sitemap for Mink. The following displays the general sitemap for onboarding and simple user journeys.

Wireframing
After developing the information architecture, the next step was to develop a cohesive wireframe for defining the structure for each screen. This phase goes through several iterations and revisions in design thinking to create a format the makes sense for usability and displaying proper information.

System Colors & Typography
Once the general wireframe is created and the team is satisfied with the iterations that have been developed through the design thinking stage, the design system and high-fidelity prototype is created. Figma is used throughout this process because it provides a great tool for connecting the activities of team members throughout each stage. The project includes prototypes of browser and mobile application, which work with the same design principles to maintain consistency and usability.
